LAHORE: Minister for Human Rights and Minorities Affairs Ejaz Alam Augustine has said inter-faith harmony is key in maintaining national security, stability and peace in Pakistan.
He said this while addressing an Eid Milan party organized by the Department of Human Rights, Minorities Affairs and Churches of Pakistan at Presbyterian Nolakha Church on Monday. The party was attended by Rev. Dr Majeed Abel, scholars of different schools of thought and religious leaders of different religions, political and social figures, civil society representatives and government officials.
Addressing the function, Ejaz Alam Augustine said that in line with the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan and on the instructions of Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, work was underway on multitudinous projects to protect the rights of minorities in Punjab. The government has taken a number of steps to bring the minority communities into the mainstream of development.
The minister appreciated the leaders of different religions shown exemplary unity and solidarity which was a praiseworthy attitude. Other speakers also spoke on the occasion and appreciated the efforts of the government to promote interfaith harmony.
