Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) took a significant step towards regional cooperation by hosting high-level delegations from Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan at the National Emergencies Operations Center (NEOC) today.

With natural disasters and climate change posing increasing threats, the meeting highlighted the urgent need for collaborative disaster management strategies among these nations. The Uzbek delegation, led by Nuriddin Ismoilov, Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, included key figures from various committees focused on budget, economic affairs, and environmental protection. The discussions were complemented by a 20-member state-level delegation from Kazakhstan under the leadership of Mr. Gizet Nurdauletov, Secretary of the Security Council, and Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, H.E. Yerzhan Kistafin.

Chairman NDMA, Lt General Inam Haider Malik, provided an in-depth briefing on Pakistan”s disaster management framework, emphasizing the integration of modern technology in disaster response and early warning systems. The discourse covered national disaster risk reduction strategies and the coordination with provincial bodies during the Monsoon season of 2025. The NDMA”s use of the National and Global Common Operating Pictures to enhance preparedness and resilience was also a focal point.

The guests from Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan expressed admiration for NDMA’s proactive measures, modern preparedness strategies, and resilience-building efforts. They acknowledged the significance of strengthening bilateral and regional cooperation in disaster risk management and the exchange of expertise.

This meeting underscores a burgeoning regional solidarity among Central Asian nations and Pakistan in tackling the mutual challenges posed by natural catastrophes and climate change, advocating for enhanced collaboration and mutual support.
