Srinagar, March 30, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has said that seeking resolution of the Kashmir dispute is not a crime. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq addressing a gathering in Srinagar said that the Hurriyat leadership had always taken a realistic and principled stance and advocated dialogue among stakeholders to find an acceptable solution for all parties involved in the dispute and for friendship between India and Pakistan. He said that his late father, Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Farooq, was a great advocate of good relations between Pakistan and India and peace in the region.
The forum chairman said, “When we welcomed and participated in the talks with New Delhi and Islamabad – we demonstrated our eagerness and faith in the institution of dialogue as a means for resolution of the dispute understanding fully that people of Kashmir are the most affected party in the dispute. We have and will continue to advocate and push for dialogue as it is the way forward as Kashmiris are most at receiving end of the lingering dispute and almost every day being killed in one form or the other.”
Meanwhile, the Chairman of United Jihad Council, Syed Salahuddin, in a statement issued in Srinagar said that a media trial had been launched to defame the ongoing Kashmir freedom movement and its leadership. He said that this campaign had been launched to detract the Kashmiri people from the cause. However, he maintained that such tactics had failed in the past and will meet the same fate in future as well.
