Karachi:Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association (PVCA) Chairman Fawad Ijaz Khan has condoled the passing away of former first class cricketer Taufiq Tirmizi, who died of cardiac arrest on Thursday evening. Taufiq felt pain in his chest while he was playing with his children at home. He died on his way to the hospital. He was 63.
Fawad said that Taufiq played for Karachi Under-19 with him in 1976. Taufiq was an all-rounder and played 12 first class matches for Karachi Whites during 1976-77 and from House Building Finance Corporation during 1977-78 and 1980-81.
Taufiq used to play regular senior and veteran cricket till a few years ago in the matches organized by the Sindh Seniors Cricket Welfare Association.
Taufiq also used to comment on cricket on TV Talk Shows and was doing TV Commentary on Cricket Matches. Taufiq was buried in Model Town graveyard. Taufiq is survived by his wife, three daughters and a son.
