Tehreek-e-Awam Pakistan Chairman Muhammad Zahid Awan has urged Field Marshal Asim Munir to take decisive action against nationwide corruption, citing an alleged report by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) that purportedly details Rs 5300 billion in corruption over a three-year period.

In a press statement on Monday, Awan described the 186-page IMF document as a “golden opportunity” for the army chief to fulfill the public’s long-held desire for a corruption-free country. He asserted that this opportunity to transform Pakistan into an Islamic welfare state is an objective that remained unachieved during the tenures of former military leaders, including General Zia-ul-Haq and General Pervez Musharraf.

The Tehreek-e-Awam chairman hailed Field Marshal Asim Munir as the most powerful and empowered military leader in the country’s history, surpassing predecessors like Ayub Khan, Yahya Khan, Zia-ul-Haq, and Pervez Musharraf. Awan also claimed that Munir has been appointed as a lifetime Field Marshal and head of the armed forces, possessing an ideal combination of authority and favorable circumstances to bring about change.
