Top meeting vows to raise literacy rate to 100% by 2030

A meeting of the Department of Literacy, chaired by Education Minister Rana Sikander Hayat, concluded with a goal to increase Pakistan’s literacy rate to 100% by 2030 and to bring the number of out-of-school children to zero.

According to Ministry of Education statement today, it was discussed that regions with lower literacy rates will be specifically targeted, and effective strategies will be implemented in these areas. Non-formal schools will soon be provided with tablets, and a special app is also being developed for adults, enabling them to access education online. Data for this app will be provided in collaboration with a cellular company.

Additionally, a skills program is already running in 470 non-formal literacy centers, aimed at enhancing students’ competencies.
