KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) on a contempt application (D-691/2021) regarding a constitutional petition filed by Pasban Democratic Party (PDP) was assured by Additional Inspector General Police Karachi that roads would not be blocked in connection with cricket matches and police would ensure to check street crime on roads during traffic jams.
According to a Pasban Democratic Party statement issued on Tuesday, AIGP Ghulam Nabi Memon presented him before a division bench of honorable court comprised of Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Amjad Ali Saheto and assured that the police would all necessary circulars to ensure that no road would be blocked in connection with the cricket matches.
In the background of the martyrdom of a youngster Osama who was injured by muggers during street crime and his ambulance could not reach hospital amid traffic jams and he died before reaching hospital, the police officer assured the court that all necessary security measures would also be taken. He said alleged killer has already been arrested. He said that containers from the roads have already been removed and all streets and roads leading to hospitals and emergency purposes are fully opened.
PDP Chairman Altaf Shakoor along with his legal team of Advocate Irfan Aziz, Advocate Khalid Siddiqui, grandfather of Osama Hanif Bandhani Advocate and petitioner PDP media coordinator Aziz Fatima, later, talking to media thanked the apex court for doling out justice and said this is not only the success of Pasban, but also the success of all citizens of Karachi.
