According to Traffic Police Punjab, due to a growing public trend of obtaining legal driving permits, driving license centers across Rawalpindi are experiencing a severe rush of applicants, placing considerable strain on local facilities.
In view of the large number of people, authorities have confirmed that the license issuance process is ongoing. To manage this rush, a 24-hour facility is operational at Rawalpindi’s Traffic Headquarters, to provide uninterrupted service to the public.
The in-charge of licensing confirmed that operations have been expanded across the district, and now 15 separate centers are providing licensing facilities. Furthermore, keeping in view the increasing number of candidates, driving tests are being conducted at three different locations in Rawalpindi, including Gujar Khan, Kallar Syedan, and Taxila.
To serve residents of remote areas, a mobile service van is also providing on-the-spot licensing facilities. Authorities are encouraging the public to take advantage of the DLIMS (Driving License Issuance Management System) online portal, which allows citizens to access services digitally and avoid crowded centers.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Farhan Aslam said that any citizen of Pakistan is eligible to obtain their driving license using only their original identity card. The CTO further added that “Providing licensing services with merit and respect is our top priority.”
