A special Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Tuesday ordered the non-bailable arrest of Aleema Khan, sister of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, after rejecting her plea for exemption from a personal appearance in connection with the November 26 protest and vandalism case.

The directive was issued by ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah, who was presiding over the hearing of the case registered under terrorism charges at the Sadiqabad Police Station. The court dismissed the request for exemption filed by Ms. Khan’s counsel, Advocate Muhammad Faisal Malik, before handing down the warrant.

During the proceedings, Prosecutor Zaheer Shah appeared on behalf of the state, while Advocates Muhammad Faisal Malik and Hasnain Sanbal represented Aleema Khan.

The indictment of Ms. Khan and other co-accused individuals in the case could not be completed during the session. The court subsequently adjourned further proceedings until tomorrow.

This development follows a hearing on Saturday where Ms. Khan had appeared before the judicial body, leading to the cancellation of a previously issued arrest warrant. At that time, the indictment could not proceed as she had sought a postponement, citing her legal counsel’s absence.

In the same session over the weekend, the court had also issued arrest warrants for two other absent co-accused, Atif Riaz and Ikram, before adjourning the case.
