The Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Revenue has sought comprehensive details of all international travel by senior officials of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SECP). The committee aims to hold the officials accountable for these visits, which are reported to be in the dozens and have incurred expenses of millions of rupees.

In an environment of rising inflation and unemployment, there is growing scrutiny on the alignment of these foreign visits with national priorities. The SECP has been told to maintain transparent records of all such travel and make this information publicly available through its website. This would include the names of the officials, destinations, travel dates, expenses incurred, funding sources, and the outcomes of these visits.
