Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has directed authorities to implement a sweeping traffic management plan and upgrade civic infrastructure ahead of the Pakistan International Maritime Expo and Conference (PIMEC) 2025, as the city braces for a major influx of international delegates while aiming to minimize public inconvenience.

During the third Steering Committee meeting for the prestigious gathering, Shah emphasized that PIMEC is a strategic platform designed to advance Pakistan”s Blue Economy, according to CM House information today. He stated the event will promote maritime innovation, attract investment, and solidify the nation’s status as a key regional maritime hub.

The conference, organized in partnership with the Pakistan Navy, is scheduled to be held from November 3 to 6, 2025, at the Karachi Expo Centre.

The high-level meeting at CM House included prominent figures such as Commander Karachi Vice Admiral Muhammad Faisal Abbasi, provincial ministers Sharjeel Inam Memon and Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab, and other senior officials from the Sindh Government and Pakistan Navy.

Reaffirming his government’s complete support, the Chief Minister underscored the strategic significance of the expo in attracting global collaboration. He praised the Pakistan Navy’s leadership, noting that maritime sector growth will create new avenues for employment, trade, and economic resilience.

In a session chaired by Vice Admiral Muhammad Faisal Abbasi, participants reviewed the progress on administrative, logistical, and security arrangements. The discussion covered detailed coordination efforts between federal and provincial departments and law enforcement agencies.

Vice Admiral Abbasi announced that PIMEC 2025 will feature a Maritime Exhibition, an International Conference, a Cultural Show, and dedicated Business Engagements. This dynamic format aims to provide a platform for entrepreneurs, researchers, and policymakers to explore technological advancements and forge new partnerships.

To ensure seamless execution, the Chief Minister instructed all civic agencies to complete necessary arrangements, including the improvement of access routes leading to the Expo Centre, well before the event begins.

Shah specifically tasked the Traffic Police with developing an efficient management plan, which includes designating special routes for delegates traveling between the airport, hotels, and the venue. He also advised the creation of alternate routes for city residents to lessen disruptions.

While acknowledging that citizens might face some temporary inconvenience, the Chief Minister said that Karachi takes pride in hosting the international conference, an occasion that highlights the city”s expanding role in the national and regional maritime landscape.
