The largest-ever comprehensive flood survey in Punjab’s history, initiated on the directive of Maryam Nawaz Sharif, is currently underway. This unprecedented initiative aims to assess the extensive damage in the areas affected by the recent floods.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has mobilized more than 2,200 teams for a complete assessment in 27 flood-hit districts. These teams are collecting crucial information about the disaster’s impact through land, water, and on-foot surveys.
Preliminary findings have revealed severe devastation, with data of 162,000 affected individuals collected. The survey has identified 45,999 houses that have suffered damage, while approximately 500,000 acres of agricultural land have also been damaged. Furthermore, the loss of livestock is also substantial, with 6,921 animals reported dead.
