Pakistan has issued a strong call for Israel to immediately halt its attacks on Gaza, welcoming a recent response from Hamas to a peace plan proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump as a significant opportunity to end the escalating violence.
In a communiqué released on Saturday, the Foreign Office described the development as a crucial chance to secure an immediate ceasefire. The statement highlighted the potential for the release of both hostages and Palestinian prisoners, and to allow for the unhindered flow of humanitarian assistance into the besieged territory.
The ministry suggested this diplomatic opening could ultimately lay the foundation for a comprehensive and lasting peace settlement in the volatile region.
Islamabad also appreciated the diplomatic efforts spearheaded by President Trump, expressing optimism that these initiatives would lead to a durable and just resolution. The government reaffirmed its commitment to contributing constructively and meaningfully to the ongoing peace process.
Reiterating its foundational foreign policy, Pakistan underscored its principled support for the Palestinian cause. The announcement affirmed the nation’s solidarity with the Palestinian people’s struggle for self-determination, calling for the establishment of a sovereign, viable, and contiguous state on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, as mandated by international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.
