SHO Bakht Ali Dahani of Kumb Police Station, along with his team, clashed with dacoits in a dramatic encounter, resulting in the arrest of an injured accused on Thursday. The confrontation occurred on Jagir Ali Akbar Link Road, where a group of criminals was allegedly planning a crime.
Acting on a tip-off, the police attempted to apprehend the gang, which resulted in an exchange of fire. During the shootout, one dacoit, Shan Ali alias Ali Khan, son of Bhawal Gopang, was captured in an injured condition, while his three accomplices managed to escape the scene. The accused was already accused of the murder of Mai Mukhtaran Gopang and the theft of her jewelry.
SSP Khairpur, Hassan Sardar Niazi, stated that a case has been registered against the arrested accused at the Kumb Police Station. A weapon and ammunition were recovered during the operation, and an investigation into the accused’s criminal activities in various jurisdictions is underway. SSP Niazi praised the police team for their prompt action and their commitment to apprehending the culprits.
In a separate incident, Assistant Commissioner Sukkur City, Sofia Falak Rao, held a meeting with polio teams at the UC Pir Elahi Bux Civil Hospital. During the meeting, she praised the dedication of the polio workers and urged them to continue their efforts to eradicate polio from Sukkur. Rao emphasized the importance of going door-to-door to administer polio drops to children under five years of age and assured them of the full support of the district administration.
