Sindh’s Minister for Local Government, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, has issued a stern warning to Union Committee (UC) Chairmen, cautioning that strict action will be taken against those who fail to perform their duties, following complaints of widespread negligence that is hindering public works in Hyderabad.
The minister”s strong remarks came during a high-level meeting with Hyderabad Mayor Kashif Shoro at the Sindh Secretariat on Tuesday. Mayor Shoro briefed the minister on the significant challenges in the city”s municipal affairs, specifically pointing out that several UC Chairmen are showing a lack of commitment, causing serious delays in providing relief to citizens and completing development schemes.
Minister Shah emphasized that the primary responsibility of elected officials is to resolve the issues of the populace. “As public representatives, it is our foremost duty to address people’s problems, as they look to us with hope,” he stated, adding that the government”s top priorities are public relief and provincial development, in line with the vision of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto and directives from the Chief Minister of Sindh.
He directed all municipal representatives and officials to ensure that ongoing development projects are completed transparently and within their stipulated timelines. He instructed them to work with sincerity and maintain close monitoring of all public works.
Furthermore, Nasir Shah asserted that any municipal officers found creating obstacles or failing in their responsibilities should be reported directly to him for immediate action. He concluded by reassuring that dedicated UC Chairmen committed to public service would receive the government”s full support and that their issues would be addressed on a priority basis.
