KARACHI:The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday extended till 4th December the interim bail granted to former Inspector General Sindh Police Ghulam Hyder Jamali and other police officers in National Accountability Bureau (NAB) references filed against them for attempting huge corruption in Sindh police funds.
The SHC division bench while hearing the bail plea of ex-IGP and others sought arguments from defence lawyer of the accused by next hearing and extended the interim bail of accused.
Counsel Mahmood Alam Rizvi told the court that three applications of plea bargaining had been sent to Director Genera (DG) NAB, and they are now waiting for verdict on these applications.
The bench directed that trial court should be informed pertaining to applications of plea bargaining. The accused, included in plea bargaining are, Muhammad Rafiq, Muhammad Shafiq and Tanveer.
The accused in the corruption references are ex-IGP Ghullam Hyder Jamali, ex-AIG Tanveer Ahmed Tahir and sub engineer Works and Services Rizwan Hussain.
The former IGP, AIG and other officials are accused of allegedly committing corruption in Sindh police funds causing a loss of over Rs15 crores to the national exchequer. The accused had taken funds from the salaries of policemen in the name of fund.
The accused had also caused a loss of billions of rupees to national exchequer on the account of maintenance of police vehicles and they gave contracts to their favourite people without any tender.
