KARACHI:In connection with the SSUET Silver Jubilee celebrations, Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) organized Major Adeel Shahid Shaheed symposium along with drone competition that was attended by a large number of faculty members and students. Chief Guest of the event was renowned industrialist and noted social leader Bashir Jan Muhammad. Vice Chancellor SSUET, Prof Dr Vali Uddin inaugurated the symposium and competition.
Speaking on the auspicious occasion, Bashir Jan Muhammad said that there is no short cut for success. You need to do hard work with complete honesty which ultimately pays. We observe that few academic institutions have bad names. Why? Think over the reasons behind this tarnish image. Not getting involved in point scoring; we should endeavor to establishing an education system based on high-quality education of modern technology.
Expressing his views, Chancellor SSUET, Jawaid Anwar, said that this symposium and drone completion was held to pay tribute to the martyrs, especially Major Adeel Shahid Shaheed who sacrificed his life at Pak-Afghan border. He would be alive in our hearts forever. We are secure in our houses because of Pak Army’s vigilance and sacrifices. This is not the time to be involved in personal conflicts.
He pointed out that under geographical perspective; we notice that our nation is being hauled towards a segregated wall. Danger is lurking around the border. All institutions need to work collectively for the national integrity and uprightness. Every institution and persons from different school of thoughts have to play an effective role to save Pakistan. If you didn’t counter check the conspiracy, no man or institution will survive.
Chancellor Jawaid Anwar said that the drone competition was held because Major Adeel Shahid was an expert of drone technology. In this competition, different colleges and universities took part i.e. NED University, Iqra University, NUST, UIT, Dawood University etc. Students presented outstanding projects that reflected the creative potential and capability of them.
Vice Chancellor SSUET, Prof. Dr. Vali Uddin, said, “This symposium and robotic and drone competition has rightly been dedicated to Major Adeel Shahid Shaheed because he was actively involved with Air Defence Unit and worked in the field of drones and robots.
He said that today’s event is dedicated to a martyr of Pakistan Army, is a powerful symbolic gesture to commemorate and cherish memories of all martyrs of Pakistan Army who laid down their lives for the integrity of Pakistan and the nation as a whole.
Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Vali Uddin, said that Sir Syed University focuses on promoting research culture and seeks to develop linkages between academia and industry. In this context, this event is a milestone in projecting indigenous research, talents and resources.
Syed Shahid Hussain Zaidi, father of Major Adeel Shahid Shaheed, said if I had more sons, I would have sacrificed them for the security of Pakistan. Holding events to recall the services of my son proves that martyr never dies.
