Karachi:Another ten leagues have recently concluded as a part of Leisure Leagues Season 5 at seven different venues in Karachi, from where another twenty teams – winner and runner-ups of each have qualified for the Leisure Leagues Karachi Intra-City Championship.
At Tanki Ground in Liaquatabad, Federal United and Mosa Academy emerged as winner and runner-up respectively to qualify for the Leisure Leagues Karachi Championship.
At Ibrahim Ali Bhai School Ground in Orangi Town, Orangi Folks and Beacon Islamic have also qualified.
North Muslim and Hazara United emerged as winner and runner-up in the first league at UP Gymkhana Ground while North Younger and Saqib Memorial were winner and runner-up in the second league at the venue.
Qadri Sports and United Red won the two leagues at United FC Ground while North Younger Academy and Moosa 7 were runner-ups.
In the league played at Shah Faisal Ground, Shah Faisal FC and Farhan Sports were winner and runner-up while at Khajji Ground Jiye Lal and Al-Murtaza top the league’s points table respectively at first and second place.
Sixteen Star Academy and Damned United won the two leagues held at Sixteen Stars Ground while Titans FC and Red Army finished the league as runner-ups.
Meanwhile, Zaim FC, FC Evolution, Junooni FC, Glory Days, North Muslim FC, North Youngs FC, G.A. Lal FC, Orangi Folks, Shah Faisal FC, Qadri Sports, United FC, Abdul FC, Targaryens United and Killer FC have already qualified for Leisure Leagues Karachi Intra-City Championship. These teams have either won or were runner-up in other eight, ten or 12-team leagues held earlier at different venues.
Following the conclusion of the mentioned 10 leagues, a total of 34 teams have now qualified for the Karachi Intra-City Championship, which will be held in April later this year with venue to be announced soon.
According to Leisure Leagues Area Manager Karachi Riaz Ahmed, more than 80 teams will qualify for the Karachi leg of the Leisure Leagues Intra-City Championship while at least another fifty cities of the country will also be hosting their respective intra-city championships.
The winning teams of the different intra-city championships will qualify for the Leisure Leagues National Championship – tentatively to be held in July later this year. More than fifty teams – winner of intra-city championships will be seen in action in the national championship.
The winning team of Leisure Leagues National Championship will represent Pakistan in the second edition of Socca World Cup, which will be held in Greece in October later this year. Last year, Lahore’s ICAW represent Pakistan in Socca World in Portugal.
