KARACHI:Police baton charged protesting teachers in a rally when they tried to enter the Red Zone near Fawara Chowk for holding demonstration outside Sindh Chief Minister House in Karachi on Sunday.
The IBA Test-passed head masters, including females, held a protest demonstration outside the Karachi Press Club (KPC) for regularizations of their jobs and later proceeded to the Red Zone. As they were nearing to enter the Red Zone, the police baton charged them in a bid to disperse them. The police also arranged water cannons to disperse the protesters.
During the police action, a teacher fell unconscious and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. The teachers raised slogans against the government and said that they had passed the IBA test three years back but could still not be regularized by the education department.
They said that on one hand, the Sindh Chief Minister had claimed to have kept education department among three top priorities while one other hand, head masters were being tortured for their demand of job regularization, which was a condemnable act.
The demanded of Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah to be a realistic chief of Sindh and fulfill his promises of making education sector as priority sector so that teachers community could take a sigh of relief.
