ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb has said the government has decided to constitute an inquiry commission to investigate into the foreign conspiracy drama staged by former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Addressing a news conference here in Islamabad on Thursday, she said this will be an impartial and independent commission, and its findings will be put before the masses so that they could see for themselves as to which person has hurt the interests of the country.

The Minister for Information said the Terms of Reference (TORs) of the inquiry commission will be finalized in the next meeting of the federal cabinet. She said the head of this commission would be a person of credibility on whom nobody could raise a finger.

Marriyum Aurangzeb said this drama of allegations should come to an end. She said those who are hurling allegations of foreign conspiracy will have to face the law after the findings of the inquiry commission. She said the former Prime Minister has also given a schedule of public meetings in order to protect the corruption of his front person Farah Gogi.

The Information Minister said the people are bearing the brunt of the incompetence and loot of the last government. She said the PTI government destroyed the economy and left behind the landmines. She said the present government under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is striving hard to provide relief to the people. She said inflation will be decreased and prices of essential items will be brought down.

Marriyum Aurangzeb said the government is also determined to protect freedom of expression, which had become obscure in last government. It may be recalled that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has authorized an inquiry against Farah Khan Gogi and others on the allegations of accumulation of illegal assets beyond known sources of income, money laundering and maintaining various accounts in the name of different businesses. She is abroad currently.

According to NAB, huge turnover amounting to Rs847-million has been found in her account during the last three years, which does not commensurate with her stated account profile. These credits were received in her personal account and withdrawn immediately after credit within a short time of period.

While reviewing the income tax returns of Farhat Shahzadi it was allegedly observed that her assets have significantly increased from the year 2018 onwards for unknown reasons. Moreover, she has been frequently travelling to foreign jurisdictions, including nine visits to the United States and six tours to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
