Srinagar, August 13, 2020 (PPI-OT): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir has condemned the authorities for not allowing the family members of illegally detained party Chairman, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, to meet him in Udhampur jail in Jammu.
The Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the authorities did not allow the family members to meet Ashraf Sehrai despite that fact that they fulfilled all the requirements including the report of COVID-19. It termed the action as sheer violation of basic human rights.
The statement said that Tehreek-e-Hurriyat and the people of the territory were deeply concerned that none of his family members were allowed to visit Ashraf Sehrai after his illegal arrest by the authorities. It said, given these delaying tactics, it is natural for the Tehreek-e-Hurriyat and the people of the territory to be worried about the senior Hurriyat leader. In such a situation, it is clear that the authorities have nefarious intentions towards the beloved leader of the Kashmiris.
The Tehreek-e-Hurriyat warned the authorities that if any harm was done to the illegally detained leader, it would have dangerous consequences and the authorities would be responsible for it. It appealed to the international community and international human rights organizations to step up their efforts against Indian oppression and human rights violations. Under the guise of crackdown, the authorities have broken every record of atrocities, it added.
It said that India could not suppress the freedom sentiment of the Kashmiri people by arresting Hurriyat leaders and activists and they would continue their liberation movement till it reached its logical conclusion. The Tehreek-e-Hurriyat appreciated the stance of Turkey and China on the Kashmir dispute and expressed the hope that other justice-loving nations would also follow them.
