KARACHI:The Karachi police claimed to have arrested a total of 957 suspects during raids in Karachi’s East, West and South Zones last week.
According to a statement issued by Karachi Police Media Cell, as many as 956 suspects, drug peddlers, street criminals and muggers have been arrested in a successful crackdown against street crime in the city.
During the anti-drug drive, police recovered 248 kg of hashish, 898 grams of heroin and 01 kg 760 grams of ice / crystal worth millions of rupees from the possession of drug dealers. More than 126 different types of illegal weapons along with ammunition and 01 hand grenade used in looting and other incidents were seized from the arrested street criminals, the police said.
During the anti-crime activities in the city, 04 encounters were held with the accused, 06 accused including 04 injured were arrested in the exchange of fire, 05 pistols were recovered from the arrested accused which has been sent for forensics.
The Special Investigation Unit Karachi arrested 05 accused involved in serious crimes and seized illegal weapons and more than 03 kg of hashish, the police claimed.
During operations in different areas of the city, the Anti-Vehicle Lifting Cell arrested 10 car / motorcycle lifters and recovered 07 stolen motorcycles and 01 car / rickshaw.
Karachi police conducted operations in different areas and seized a total of 77 snatched and stolen motorcycles and 04 cars / rickshaws. The police pledged to continue measures for the elimination of terrorism, restoration of law and order and protection of the people.
