KARACHI:Minister for Health and Population Welfare Sindh, Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho, on Tuesday inaugurated a new state of the art MRI Machine at the SMBB Trauma Center Karachi.
The SMBB Trauma Center celebrated completing five years of successful trauma management and treatment. Secretary Health Zulfiqar Shah was also present on the occasion. Approximately 400 emergencies are seen daily by the institute and treated free of cost with the most qualified healthcare personnel and medical equipment.
Aside from ER services, the trauma center has expanded into clinical services that include ancillary, bio-infectious, waste management, bioengineering and many more. Speaking on the occasion, Pechuho stated that SMBB should be the standard by which other trauma centers should be measured and managed. The center should act as a parent institute to other trauma response centers so that they could progress further in treating trauma injuries in the province.
The minister added that road traffic injuries were the primary cause for most of the trauma injuries in Sindh, and that was why Sindh health department had been working on rapid response centers along the highway so that all such injured could be attended immediately, offered emergency care and then shifted to the nearest tertiary hospitals.
She concluded by saying that those endeavors had been wholeheartedly supported by the board members. She thanked them for their services and said that public private partnership, although ridiculed, was a highly efficient means to progress civil services and provide accessible services to the people of the province.
