KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court in Karachi approved two-day physical remand of PTI MPA Arsalan Taj in a case pertaining to an attack on the office of Keamari deputy commissioner. Police produced the PTI MPA before the court amid tight security and handed over him to police for a two-day physical remand after hearing the arguments of the parties. Talking to media outside the court, Arsalan said they were not afraid of arrests, adding he would continue supporting Imran Khan in all circumstances. “I am all smiles now and now it’s your turn to worry,” he remarked.
The provincial lawmaker was arrested by security officials from his residence in Karachi’s Gulshan-i-Iqbal area in the early hours of Sunday in a case related to attack on Keamari deputy commissioner’s office. In January, Karachi police registered a case against PTI Sindh President Ali Haider Zaidi and 17 other party workers, including Arsalan, under terrorism and other charges after PTI and PPP workers of rival political clashed outside the DC office. The clashes followed by second phase of local government elections in the Sindh.
Meanwhile, PTI chairman Imran Khan has demanded the release of the PTI leader Arsalan and described the government act as its “fascist” tactics against leaders and workers of the PTI. In a tweet, Imran demanded immediate release of PTI MPA and Secretary General Karachi Arsalan Taj Ghuman.
