Coronavirus: 20 deaths, 1502 new cases reported in one day

Islamabad, November 07, 2020 (PPI-OT): Twenty more Corona patients have been died in the country over the last twenty four hours with 1502 new cases. The figure of recovered patients from the disease has reached 317,898 with 812 recoveries during last twenty four hours. There are now 16,912 active cases in the country.

Chief of Army Staff thanks Vanessa O’Brien’s achievements for promoting Pakistan as a goodwill ambassador

Islamabad, November 07, 2020 (PPI-OT): Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa has appreciated the mountaineer Vanessa O’Brien’s achievements and thanked her for promoting Pakistan as a goodwill ambassador. The Army Chief expressed these views during a meeting with Vanessa O’Brien, who called on him in Rawalpindi. Vanessa O’Brien is the only woman to climb the world’s highest point of Mount Everest and dive to the world’s deepest point Challenger Deep, also carrying Pakistan’s flag.

Prime Minister to lay foundation stone for University, Hospital in Hafizabad

Islamabad, November 07, 2020 (PPI-OT): Prime Minister Imran Khan will visit Hafizabad today to lay foundation stone for a university and a hospital. Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Punjab on Information Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan in a tweet message on Saturday said the Prime Minister will also address the public meeting on this occasion. She said the university will be constructed at a cost of four point five billion rupees while the new 400-bed facility District Headquarters Hospital building will cost two billion rupees.

Pakistan calls for investment as response against Covid-19

Islamabad, November 07, 2020 (PPI-OT): At the United Nations, Pakistan has urged the need for investment both from the public and the private sector, especially in infrastructure, as an important part of the response against Covid-19.

Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Munir Akram while speaking at a virtual meeting of the Group of Friends of SDG Financing with the Secretary General Antonio Guterres also urged that all measures need to be translated into action. Munir Akram expressed his commitment to lead the platform of ECOSOC for advocacy and said we need to have a like-minded coalition to reach out to decision makers to get an agreement.

Government constitutes committee to merge irrelevant departments: Shibli

Islamabad, November 07, 2020 (PPI-OT): Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz says the Prime Minister has taken strict notice of the top vacant posts in various ministries and divisions. Talking to a private news channel, he said the federal cabinet had decided in its last meeting to complete the process of appointments on these positions within ninety days. Shibli Faraz said government has constituted a restructuring committee headed by Dr Ishrat Hussain for merging irrelevant departments in order to improve overall efficiency of the government institutions.

Saudi plans to relax foreign workers’ sponsorship terms will benefit Pakistanis: Envoy

Islamabad, November 07, 2020 (PPI-OT): Pakistan Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Raja Ali Ejaz has said that Saudi labour reforms would significantly benefit Pakistani workers in the Kingdom.

In an interview with Arab news, he said that the reforms are grounded in best international practices, and the new system would activate the employer-employee contractual agreement which would resolve administrative glitches. He said new system would also help Pakistani workers search for new jobs on the expiry of their contracts while still residing in Saudi Arabia.

Prime Minister inquires about Ch Shujaat’s health on phone

Islamabad, November 07, 2020 (PPI-OT): Prime Minister Imran Khan phoned to inquire after the health of PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, who was admitted to hospital in Lahore yesterday.

According to PML-Q sources, the Prime Minister conveyed his best wishes for early recovery of the veteran politician during a telephonic conversation with his son MNA Chaudhry Shafey Hussain.

Earlier in the day, the PML-Q President was shifted to the hospital for treatment of chest infection. According to MNA Moonis Elahi, his condition is stable.
