Message from Dr. Arif Alvi President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan (On the occasion of Birth Anniversary of Allama Muhammad Iqbal i.e. 9th November, 2020)

Islamabad, November 08, 2020 (PPI-OT): I would like to pay rich homage to the great Muslim Philosopher and Poet of the East, Allama Muhammad Iqbal, on his birth anniversary. He was the great benefactor of the Muslims of sub-continent, who envisioned the idea of a separate homeland for them and later his dream was translated into reality. He was a great thinker who imbibed in Muslims the spirit of unity, through his writings and poetry, that greatly helped them to achieve a separate homeland.

Allama Iqbal has rendered great services for the promotion of Muslim cause by infusing a revolutionary spirit in them and playing a prominent role in the renaissance of Muslim society in sub-continent. Following his philosophy of “Khudi” can take us to the heights of development. Our countrymen, particularly the younger generation, need to follow his path and ideals that would greatly help Muslim Ummah in overcoming the modern day’s challenges.

In order to make Pakistan a prosperous nation, we need to follow Allama Iqbal’s teachings on Islam and his philosophy of “Khudi” that believe in the promotion of self-respect and human dignity. It is high time to stand united, set aside our differences and work committedly for the socio-economic uplift of the country. Let us pledge on this day to work for the unity of Muslim Ummah, and progress and prosperity of the country. I would like to conclude with the following verse of Allama Iqbal: Aik hon Muslim haram ki pasbani ke liye Neel ke sahil se le kar ta ba Khaak-i-Kashgar

Protest against new land laws in IIOJK

Jammu, November 08, 2020 (PPI-OT): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the J and K Pradesh Youth Congress (JKPYC) staged a protest against the new land laws notified by the Indian government for the territory.

Led by JKPYC President, Uday Bhanu Chib, the activists assembled outside the party’s head office in Jammu and raised slogans against the BJP-led communal Indian government for its failure to protect the land rights of people of Kashmir.

Talking to reporters in Jammu, Uday Chib strongly condemned the repealing of the J and K land laws and stripping the permanent residents of the territory of exclusive right to acquire and hold immovable property.

He said that the move was a design to disempower the people of Kashmir further and put their land on sale for corporations. It is a daylight robbery of land in the name of integration, development and security, he added.

“The amendments introduced in Land Revenue Act are unacceptable to people of Kashmir. The previous land law in erstwhile J and K State guaranteed by Maharaja Hari Singh gave full protection to people, which have been abolished in an unconstitutional and undemocratic way. The law now introduced was aiming to dis-empower people, which is not only unfortunate, but a serious matter and must be nullified to put an end to the fear and chaos that has struck the people in shape of new land law,” Uday said.
